Open Colorado →What this site is
A study tool for the Colorado Driving Knowledge Test — the written exam you take before you get an instruction permit or a first driver license. Practice sets are fixed, not random: each one is a hand-written group of questions covering a different slice of the handbook, so working through all of them actually covers the book.
Every question carries a written explanation of why the correct answer is right and why the other options are wrong, plus the handbook chapter it comes from. Nothing is copied verbatim from the state manual — the questions are original rewrites that test the same rules.
What this site is not
- — Not a DMV website, and not affiliated with any government agency.
- — Not a driving school, and we don't sell courses or recommend schools.
- — Not a source of legal advice. Confirm anything that matters with the official handbook.
- — No account, no email collection, no cloud sync. Your progress stays in this browser.
How to study in three passes
- 01
Read the source chapter
Each practice set links to the handbook section behind it. Read that section first — practice only tells you what you missed, it does not teach the rule.
- 02
Take a set, read every explanation
Do not skip the explanations on questions you got right. A correct guess hides a gap that the real exam will find.
- 03
Finish with the simulator
The simulator draws a full 25-question exam under the 80% bar. Take it until you clear it comfortably, not once.
